In the island's north is the Wybalenna Historic Site where the graveyard contains unmarked aboriginal graves along with those of some of the first European settlers. In 1834, the government settled one hundred and thirty five Aboriginals from the mainland on Flinders Island where they were to be 'civilised and Christianised'. Warning - this place is a bit sad.
